- Unity or 'wahda' is a widely and often discussed topic amongst people around the globe.
- Importance of understanding the meaning of unity amongst Muslims and how we can achieve it.
- Unity does not mean unification of the religion.
- Any attempt to merge the religion into one, will have opposite impact and cause further division.
- Instead of 2 groups of Muslims, we will now have a third one added called the 'sushi'.
- The simplest form and ground for unity which is a must, is the issue of uniting against a common enemy.
- On a broader basis, we can still have our differences but even in the way we do things there are many strong points of unity: in our concepts and in our basic rituals
- Coexist with one another despite the differences in how you perform your rituals.
- The fundamentals of unity is to respect one another.
- The life of a Muslim, his property and his honour is sacrosanct.
- The mentality of the takfiris goes totally against this tenet.
The Salafi mentality, which promotes the idea of takfir, is the biggest challenge during this time.
- There is a lot of understanding and mutual respect for one another at a theological level as well as in jurisprudence.
- For example, a Hanafi Muslim who decides to move on to the path of the Ahlulbayt, he does not have to perform qaza for his past salaat.
- The wilayat of Imam Ali(a) is also one point of unity.
- The common name in the list of leadership within all three major groups of Muslims, is Ali.
- The love of the Ahlulbayt is compulsary for all Muslims, whether they are Shia, Sunni or Salafi.
- In Ghadeer as well as in many other occasions, the Prophet introduced Imam Ali(a) as his "wali'
- Clarifying the meaning of 'mawla' using the statement of the second khalifa when he congratulated Imam Ali(a) in Ghadeer.
- We should not shy away with our identity of the follower of Imam ali(a) because he is the 'mawla' of all believers.
